During an inspection in response to concerns

People told us that they liked living at the Chestnuts Nursing and Dementia Care Home. They told us that the staff were nice and friendly and available most of the times. Some of the comments included; 'They all look after me, it is like one big happy family,' 'Staff always chat to me' and 'They offer a good service here'. People were also pleased with the activities in the home and enjoyed using the garden room, attending reminiscence meetings and weekly church services, as well as when entertainers visited the home.

People also told us that they and their family were involved in their care and treatment. They were pleased that they were given choices in most areas of life in the home, which included their meals, activities, determining the quality of the service and being able to personalise their private spaces. People were happy with the range of meals in the home, but many raised the concern that hot foods were often times served cold. Many also reported that they get to see a doctor as regular as they like and this leaves them reassured that their healthcare needs would be taken care of.
