Our view of the service
Date of assessment 6 February 2024 to 5 March 2024. Cliveden Manor Care Home provides accommodation for people requiring personal or nursing care to a range of people. At the time of our assessment 70 people were living there. Each person occupied either apartment style or suite accommodation. People could choose to have a meal in a restaurant, bistro area or in their apartment. People living with dementia were supported in a designated unit known as the Willows. This assessment was carried out in response to concerns raised with us around the management of the service. Person centred care was provided with risks to people identified and mitigated. Safe medicine practices were promoted. Systems were in place to promote learning from accidents, incidents, complaints and safeguarding to keep people safe. Recruitment practices were safe, and staff had been inducted, trained, and supported in their roles. Staffing levels had been reviewed and increased to meet people’s dependency needs. The service had an experienced manager who was in the process of registering with The Care Quality Commission. Good governance and effective communication systems were established which enabled staff, people, and relatives to fed back on the quality of care and promoted effective monitoring of the service provided to people.
People's experience of this service
People’s overall experience was positive. We observed people were greeted by staff with kindness and dignity. People told us they felt safe and were content living at Cliveden Manor Care Home. They had access to activities if they wished to join in. People confirmed they were invited to meetings with the management team to enable them to feedback their views. Some people commented, they did not always feel timely action was taken when responding to their feedback. This was fed back to the manager to address. Relatives were largely happy with the care with some relatives feeling despite the staff changes, the manager had brought stability to the service.
