Updated 15 August 2024
This inspection was prompted by concerns shared with us by the local authority and information we held about the service. The previous registered manager had recently resigned and a new manager started in their role on 2 August 2024. Since they started, the service has begun to make improvements, but there remains work to be done, and we found some concerns during our inspection. These included poor practices in regard to the management of medicines, risk assessments that were not comprehensive, staff not always following the guidance of professional health care staff and quality assurance systems that were yet to be fully imbedded. We found breaches of regulations in relation to Regulations 12, 14 and 17 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. We did find areas of good practice as well. Staff, people who used the service and their relatives spoke positively about the new manager. People were supported to be independent and their dignity and privacy were respected. There were safe systems for protecting people from the risk of abuse and we found appropriate measures were in place in relation to infection control and prevention.
