During a routine inspection
All the people living in the home were able to communicate with us verbally and expressed satisfaction with the care and service they received. They told us they were well looked after by all the staff. One person told us 'I like living here and staff are very nice'. Another person told us when they came to live at the home, they were not able to cook or go out independently. They told us 'I can now go out by myself and I go on the bus' and 'I cook for myself'. They also told us they knew how to make a complaint and said 'I will speak to the staff and they help me'.
We spoke with a relative of one of the people using the service. They told us that their family member 'likes living at the home and they are very happy'. They said West Hill Place had a homely atmosphere and it was pleasantly decorated.
We found the provider had systems in place to meet people's health and welfare needs. We also found that medicines were handled safely and staff received training and support to enable them to carry out their job roles effectively. We saw that the provider had a complaints system in place to ensure that any complaints raised were handled appropriately.
