Caring
Staff at the home were caring. People told us all the staff were extremely kind and friendly and visitors also told us they found staff to be approachable. We saw happy and relaxed interactions between staff and the people they supported. People had choice in how they spent their days.

Independence, choice and control
People told us, “You can please yourself what you do,” and there are, “loads of things going on.” Another person told us, “I can stay I bed if I want to. It’s more comfortable.” A visitor told us, “Staff are so welcoming.”
The registered manager told us, “Visiting completely unrestricted. Relatives have code for the front door so they can let themselves in.” Staff told us how they used encouragement while assisting people to ensure people remained as independent as possible. Staff told us they did things in the way people wanted, they said they did not always do things the easiest way, they did them in the ways people chose.
We saw people were able to choose where they went and how they spent their time. Activity staff knew people well and were able to provide appropriate activities for people that they enjoyed.
Care plans were detailed and included how people liked to spend their day, what they liked to eat and how and when they liked to sleep. Care plans included information for staff on the best ways to interact with people, any barriers to communication and themes that were usually welcomed by the person as a conversational subject.
