Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must not admit any service user without the prior written agreement of the Care Quality Commission. This includes any respite admissions of service users, or any readmissions if service users are admitted to hospital.
The registered provider must carry out an up-to-date assessment of all service users' nutritional and hydration support needs by 23 April 2024 and create a summary for each service user that is easily accessible to all care staff. This must include the needs of service users with swallowing difficulties and how they receive prescribed medicines. The registered provider must provide a copy of these summaries to the Care Quality Commission by 23 April 2024
The registered provider must assess the competence of all care staff in supporting service users identified at risk of dehydration and malnutrition and/or with swallowing difficulties at risk of choking by 23 April 2024. The registered provider must ensure all staff have received training in these areas and implement an ongoing review of staff competencies by 15 May 2024 and send evidence of this training and competency reviews to CQC by 15 May 2024.
The registered provider must by 23 April 2024, review the dependency needs of service users and demonstrate how the deployment of staff is sufficient to:
a. ensure service users are safe
b. ensure service users can be supported to evacuate the area in an event of an emergency
c. ensure service users requiring support with their meals and drinks or are distressed or upset are not left unattended for prolonged periods of time and can receive all required support and attention from staff in a timely manner.
The registered person must demonstrate how the numbers of domestic and catering staff deployed are sufficient to ensure the management of infection, prevention and control and that domestic and catering tasks do not impede care staff from providing care and support by 23 April 2024.
Enough domestic staff must be deployed daily, taking into account the layout of the building to ensure all areas of the premises and equipment are clean and fit for purpose.
The registered provider must provide a report to the commission commencing on 3 May 2024 and on the first Friday of each month thereafter detailing the key findings from audits and quality monitoring checks in relation to:
a. The assessment and management of risks of dehydration, malnutrition and choking.
b. The assessment and management of the risks of infection control.
c. The progress of rectifying deficiencies identified in your fire risk assessment and within the Fire Officers’ enforcement notice.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The Registered Provider must only accommodate a maximum of 36 service users at Oaklodge Care Home.
The Registered Provider must not provide nursing care under accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care at Oaklodge Care Home.
