During a routine inspection
2011, told us that they liked living there and were happy with the services they received. We spent a lot of time talking to people living there and observing daily life in the home and did not receive any negative comments at all about the standard of personal care and individual attention they received, the food on offer to them, the cleanliness of the home or the staff approaches and support they received.
People living there told us that the manager and staff were "very good" and another told us they thought the staff were "fantastic" and that the night staff were "wonderful". People told us that they felt the staff knew them well and were aware of their preferences and "peculiarities".
People we talked with confirmed that they got up and had their meals when and where it suited them and also went to bed when they wanted. People told us the food was "very good" even though "they were cooking for a lot" and told us that they were always asked what they liked. One person told us how they liked to stay up late and that night staff gave them supper when they wanted it. We saw the food choices on the menu board but people told us they could have alternatives.
People also told us that the laundry services were "very good" and that their clothes were being well laundered and returned to them promptly. We were also told how clean and well kept they felt their home was and we could see as we walked around that this was the case.
People also told us that they could decide how they spent their time, saying, "I just tell them what I want". They told us that they felt they did not have to join in any activity or outing if they did not want to. People we talked with told us that they had not felt the need to complain about anything but they all expressed confidence in the manager to deal with anything should they have a complaint.
