People told us most staff were caring and attentive. A person said, “The carers are brilliant.” A relative said, “The carers work very hard and they are very caring.” Care plans described how people wished to be supported. For example, a person’s chosen routine of personal care. People’s preferred method of communication was outlined.P

People told us staff supported their independence and maintained their dignity. A person said, “They [staff] encourage me to walk about.” Another person said, “They [staff] are very gentle with the cream. They shut doors and curtains to maintain my dignity.”"

Staff offered choices and supported people’s independence. A staff member said, “Always give them [people] a choice and an option. Giving them the time to make their own decisions.” Staff told us, “I encourage them [people] to be as independent as they can. I always make sure they are happy to do personal care, or shopping but will take over if they need me to. We promote independence to the maximum level as we can."

People’s care plans described their family networks, history and interests. People’s support outlined what people could do for themselves and where assistance was required.
