Caring
People told us the staff were very good and very friendly. Staff were described as kind, and caring. People told us they had been involved in planning and deciding upon the support they needed. However, we found that people's care plans did not always reflect their needs, and there was little evidence they were involved in discussing and agreeing any changes to the support they received. Improvements were needed to ensure people's needs were clearly described so that staff had clear information and guidance on what support people needed and what they could do independently.
This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Kindness, compassion and dignity
People and relatives spoken with told us the staff team were kind, and caring. They told us the staff were very good, friendly and had a laugh and a joke with them and protected their dignity. People told us their dignity was respected and their independence promoted in their day to day care. Consent was always sought prior to any care being provided and their wishes and preferences respected. People shared their comments such as, “Yes, the carers are very kind and they get on well with my (relative). We can’t fault them”, “The staff are very kind and know (our relative) well. The carers and the current head of care are absolutely brilliant with (our relative) and with us” and “They treat me very well. Yes, they do ensure I am treated with dignity and respect."
The registered manager told us spot checks were carried out on staff practice, this was to ensure practice was appropriate and staff were kind, caring and competent. They felt staff morale and attitudes were good. Staff supervisions were completed. The registered manager told us the values of the service were continuity, quality and safety. The registered manager told us they had recently adopted a new care plan system that was designed to offer more person centred information about people’s life, their wishes and preferences. We saw evidence of this during our visit.
The local authority shared positive feedback about the service and had no concerns.
