During a routine inspection
The staff we spoke with demonstrated good knowledge of each person's needs and how best to support them. This included how to manage more challenging behaviours. Risk assessments and care plans had been reviewed and updated regularly. Where advice and support from health care specialists was needed, this had been obtained in a timely and consistent manner.
The provider had up-to-date safeguarding and whistleblowing policies in place. All staff had completed safeguarding training at a level appropriate for their role. Staff demonstrated that they understood their role in protecting the people they supported. We observed that staff interacted with people in a supportive and friendly way and they had the skills to meet people's needs. All of the staff we spoke with were experienced and had worked at the service for a number of years. The one person we spoke with said about staff; 'I wouldn't be without them, they are so beautiful'.
The one person we spoke with said they would recommend the service to others. Staff told us they felt able to voice their opinions and they felt the service was well run.
