Crossways is a nursing home providing personal care for up to 18 older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. Our assessment was prompted by concerns we had received about the safety of the home and how this was managed. We found a breach of the legal regulations in relation to governance. Governance processes were not effective and did not support the provider or registered manager to maintain oversight of the service. There was poor record keeping in relation to medicines management, incident reporting and incident analysis. Audits were in place but had not identified the shortfalls we identified at this assessment. The environment required maintenance however, limited action had been taken. This service is now rated Requires Improvement.
The service was provided in one building across 2 floors. There were a mix of bedrooms, some single and some shared, with and without ensuites, with shared living areas and access to a garden on the ground floor.
At the time of our assessment there were 13 people living at the home. The assessment took place between 12 and 13 November 2024.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns we found at this assessment.
