Updated 21 May 2024
Date of assessment 21 May to 3 July 2024 Devon C Air Limited Homecare Agency, hereafter referred to as Devon C Air, is a domiciliary care agency. It provides personal care to people living in their own homes and/or specialist housing. Not everyone using Devon C Air received a regulated activity; CQC only inspects the service being received by people provided with 'personal care'; help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided. At the time of this inspection, 21 people were receiving personal care from the service. We looked at 7 quality statements; person centred care; care provision, integrations and continuity; providing information; listening to and involving people; equity in access; equity in experiences and outcomes; and planning for the future. At the previous inspection, we made a recommendation about care planning. The service had introduced an electronic care planning system and was in the process of adding more detailed information and guidance into care plans. They will be working with the local authority QAIT (Quality Assurance and Improvement Team) to complete this. Staff told us how they supported people as individuals and clearly understood their support needs. Staff received training from health professionals and worked alongside them at visits to ensure care was co-ordinated. Staff told us if they had concerns about people, they were confident that actions would be taken swiftly. Staff enjoyed working for the service and felt valued and well supported. The service had policies and procedures to ensure people received the best outcomes. At our last inspection, the service was rated good overall and requires improvement in the responsive key question. At this assessment, the rating for the responsive key question has improved to good.
