Our view of the service

The assessment took place on 30 July 2024. The assessment was planned in response to concerns raised about the management of risk at the service. We did not identify any breaches of regulation and the service remains rated Good. People told us they felt safe and secure with the support they received. Concerns were reported investigated and mitigations put in place as needed. The service and people’s equipment were well maintained and kept clean. Where people were deprived of their liberty the appropriate authorisation to do so had been sought. People were supported to make choices and independence was promoted. Staff understood the risks people face and supported people to make choices about how they were kept safe. There was enough staff to support people. Staff had the training and support they needed and were recruited safely. People were supported to have equity in opportunity by staff who understood the importance of supporting people with their rights. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

People's experience of this service

People were happy with the support they were receiving. One person said, “There is always lots of joking and I laugh a lot here, it’s very nice.” Another person said, “They ask me to make a list of want I want to do…I really like science and nature and evolution…they got me a writing pad and I make notes every day and show them…. I am saving up for a printer so I can make posters.” People participated in activities they enjoyed and were supported to stay connected to people who were important to them. One person said, “I have my own phone, which I can use to speak to my mum, but I can also use Outlook and the house phone too if I want.” Relatives were pleased with the support their loved ones received. One relative said, “We’ve never had a concern in [a number of] years, but I am sure that if we did, it would be dealt with very promptly.” Relatives told us there was a consistency of staff and staff knew people well.
