Our view of the service
Whittingham House is a 'care home.' People in care homes receive accommodation and nursing or personal care as a single package under one contractual agreement. CQC regulates both the premises and the care provided and both were looked at during this inspection. The service is set over 2 floors and has access to outside space. Whittingham House can support up to 70 people, at the time of our assessment 55 people were using the service. At our last inspection in June 2023, we found the service had breached regulations and was placed in special measures. At this inspection we found improvements had been made and they were no longer in breach of regulations. We reviewed 15 quality statements; Safeguarding; Safe Environments: Infection prevention and control: Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Delivering evidence-based care and treatments; Consent to care and treatment; Assessing needs; Independence, choice and control; Equity in experiences and outcomes; Capable, compassionate and inclusive leaders; Freedom to speak up; Governance, management and sustainability; Partnerships and communities; Learning, improvement and innovation.
