Our view of the service
Date of assessment 24 April 2024 to 5 September 2024. Care plans and risk assessments were not always in place, up to date or reflective of the care people received. This resulted in us observing and staff sharing with us conflicting information about how people were safely supported. There was also a lack of learning in the home when incidents occurred. There were systems in place to manage medicines however improvements were needed to ensure staff had guidance when people were prescribed ‘as required medicines’ The systems in place to identify concerns and drive improvements in the home were not always effective as there was a lack of understanding around this. When audits or checks had been completed, they had not always identified areas of improvement. Areas of the home were in need of redecoration or improvement to ensure the environment was always safe. There were enough suitably recruited staff available to offer support to people when needed. Staff felt the home was a good place to work and felt supported and listened to. We found 2 breaches of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and governance.
People's experience of this service
The feedback we received from people and relatives was positive. They were happy with the staff who supported them, how they received their medicines and the environment they lived in. They also felt the home worked in partnership with other agencies and felt safe living there.
