During a routine inspection
people staying on holiday. We also had responses from external agencies such as Social Services in order to gain a balanced overview of what people experience.
Responses we received were positive and included from people staying at Haven lodge, "I enjoy the trips we go on". Another person said, "I always look forward to coming here".
Staff we spoke to said they felt the staff team worked well together and because most
have been at the home for a number of years they know each other very well. Comments from staff included, "We get a lot of the same people coming on holiday and we know what they enjoy".
Staff spoken to had a good awareness of individual care needs and the importance of
treating people with respect and dignity. The small staff team we spoke to have been at the home for a number of years, they are aware of how to ensure people are looked after when they come and stay at Haven lodge.
To get the views of people staying at Haven Lodge surveys are given at the end of the holiday. Also families opinions are obtained through questionnaires periodically. The person in charge told us, "Its important to get the views of people so that we can always improve". We looked at survey sheets given to residents which were written in 'easy read formats' to ensure people can understand them when filling in the surveys. The ones we looked at all had positive comments about Haven Lodge.
