During the visit to the home we spoke with the owner/manager, people living at the home, two visitors and a member of staff.People living at the home and relatives we spoke to told us they were very happy with the service, also the care their relatives receive. Comments included from residents, "I am very happy here". Also,"They have always been nice to me all the years I have been here". Positive comments from visitors included, "This would be my choice of care", and, "They made us feel very welcome at the start, all the staff are respectful and kind".
We discussed individual care needs with a member of staff and she had a good awareness of the care and support people need. Records looked at confirmed this. One staff member said,"Its a small home and their needs are put first by me".
As part of the review process we spoke to Social Services for a view of how the home
operates. They told us they had visited the home recently following an annonymous complaint to look at care practices. They found some discrepancies with medication procedures, however the manager has addressed the concerns and requested advice from the pharmacist. The manager said, "We have improved our medication policy on the advice of the pharmacist".
