Care plans included information people’s individual needs and any protected characteristics, as identified under the Equality Act 2010. There was also an "about me" section with information about people’s life histories and preferences. There were systems in place to seek people’s feedback.

People’s feedback about care was sought and this was used to ensure they had support tailored to their preferences. People told us they were involved in the development of their care plan, however it was not always evidenced they were involved in the regular reviews of these. People’s personal views and beliefs were recorded in the care plans and respected by staff. Relatives told us they were involved in decisions where appropriate. They also told us people were supported to access health care. This helped promote positive health outcomes and equity of access to health provision.

Staff understood their responsibilities to respect people’s diverse needs and support them as individuals. One staff member told us, "We treat each person as an individual and not as a number, ask them how they want things to be done and if they want to have part in their care. We encourage people to join in as much as possible and always treat them as individuals." The provider and manager told us people's individual needs were assessed prior to moving to the home and people's differences were respected. The provider told us they were planning Pride in Care training for all staff, relating to LGBTQ+ inclusion.
