During an inspection in response to concerns

We visited this service on the same day as a representative of the local authority's safeguarding team. This was because both CQC and the local authority had concerns about care and staffing at the home, and it was decided that a joint visit would be the most effective way to check the welfare of any person living there.

We met with the one person who was living in the home on the day of the inspection, but did not seek their views about Gwendolen Lodge as it was not appropriate at that time.

Following the inspection the provider contacted us to say that all staff and people who use the service had left the home, and it was closed and due to be leased to another provider. We had not received an application from the provider to de-register the service at the time of the inspection.
