Archived: Brookfield House Care Home

We spoke to one relative and one friend of people who lived at the home. They told us; "Staff are well trained and are brilliant with the residents." and "The care is good and people get everything that they need."

The staff we spoke to during our visit told us that they enjoyed working at the home because the standard of care was very good and that they had access to lots of training and support. They said that they were supported by the manager and the deputy manager who were always available to offer advice and support and that they worked alongside the staff on a regular basis.

Our observations, documentation we reviewed and the people we spoke to assured us that the people who lived in the home were experiencing care and support that met their needs.

We looked at the procedures for recruitment of new staff and we saw that all the appropriate checks had not been made to ensure that staff were suitable to work at the home.

People told us that they were treated with respect and were always involved in making decisions about their care and support. One person said 'I am very happy, no problems, I am very comfortable, the food is good and the staff treat me with respect.' Another person said 'I have settled in very well I am happy here'

We looked at the care records for four of the people who lived at the home and could see that arrangements made for their care and support were centred on their individual needs and personal preferences.

People told us that they felt safe. We looked at the arrangements that the provider had in place for ensuring that people were protected from abuse and found them to be robust and effectively implemented.

Since our last visit to the registered manager had implemented an action plan designed to improve arrangements for care of the people who lived at the home. We could see that the necessary improvements had been made so people were protected from receiving unsafe or inappropriate care and support.
