During a routine inspection
We saw staff treated people with respect and dignity. People told us that choices had been offered and their views had been taken into consideration. One person said, "I go out for short walks. I go out with my family at weekends for shopping. I go to the library to change my books because I read a lot'.
We saw staff speaking with people in a respectful and responding to people's body language and offering support people seem at ease with staff. When we asked people about staff attitude towards living in the home in general, they replied 'staff are very kind and patient'.
People's needs had been assessed by the deputy manager and a range of health professionals including doctors and community nurses. People said they were involved with developing their care and support plans. This meant that people's healthcare needs had been monitored and met.
We saw the provider had a policy on safeguarding people from abuse. Staff had attended training to ensure people who used the service were protected from the risk of abuse.
We saw the provider had an effective system in place to regularly monitor the quality of the service that people received.
We saw there were sufficient numbers of suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff in the home at all times.
