We spoke with four people during the inspection. They all told us they liked living in the home and were happy. One person told us, they liked the staff. One person who was being admitted on the day of the inspection was very excited about moving to the home. We spoke with two visitors to the home and they were both positive about the standards of care being provided. One visitor told us that of the homes they had seen Barrington House was the most like a family environment.
We found that the home was clean and odour free. There were appropriate arrangements in place to manage and reduce the risk of infection to people who lived in the home.
We looked at they way that people agreed to take part in daily activities and tasks that supported their health and wellbeing. We looked at the processes for the ongoing monitoring of people's care. We observed staff who knew the people who used the service well and were able to support their needs.
We talked to three members of staff. They were all enthusiastic about working for the home and supporting the people that lived there. One care worker told us, 'I've always liked working here'all the staff help each other to help the residents.' Another care worker told us, 'People are well looked after here'and we work together as a team.'
We looked at the records that were kept in the home and found that some improvement was needed to ensure that people's needs were met and care was safe.
