During our visit we were able to speak with a number of people who live at the home. Everyone we spoke with gave us very positive feedback about life at The Peele and spoke highly of the staff and the manager. One resident commented, 'We are very fortunate indeed. This is a lovely place to be.' Another told us 'I think they (the staff) are absolutely wonderful here, they cannot do enough for you.'
When asked, people said they were confident that the staff understood their needs and were able to meet them. One person commented 'We know them and they know us! They always know just what we need.'
People said that they felt there was plenty going on at the home. One resident showed us some pictures of a recent outing, another told us that she enjoyed the sing-alongs often held at the home. 'We are always up to something, we have a right giggle!' commented another person we spoke with.
People that we spoke with were all very positive about the quality and variety of food served at the home. People said that the menus were varied, and that the food they were served was of good quality. 'You really can't grumble at any of it!' said one resident.
Some residents were not able to give us their views but we noted that they looked comfortable and content in their surroundings. Residents clearly got along very well with staff and we saw them interacting in a warm, friendly and at times, jovial manner with each other.
The home is purpose built and separated into smaller units where people live and eat together. The home, although very large, felt relaxed and comfortable. One staff member said 'It's organised really well so that we have plenty of time to spend with people.'
