During a routine inspection
We also spoke with the manager and a representative of the provider as well as four members of senior and support staff. We looked at two sets of care plans and care records, medication records and some records which described the way the quality of care and service was measured within the home.
People told us and showed us some of the ways that their independence was promoted and respected. We saw photographs of people which showed they had learned new skills, such as making pizza from scratch and using the computer to write letters. People told us they led busy and active lifestyles and had support from staff to go out and take part in things they enjoyed, without having to go out as part of a large group.
The members of staff we spoke with told us there were good opportunities for training so that they developed their skills and knowledge, which enabled them to meet people's needs and protect them from risk of harm. From our discussions with members of the support staff team, it was evident that they understood people's needs and clearly knew people well. One person commented, "The staff have helped me a lot."
