During a routine inspection
The three people we spoke to during our visit were pleased with the care provided to them and believed their needs were being met. They said, 'I am confident with the staff and with the equipment they use, the call bell is answered almost straight away'. 'The staff are all very nice, very pleasant and they help you when you want'.
People we spoke to said they felt safe at Ayresome Court and they were being well cared for. If people had concerns they said they would speak to the staff about this.
One person said, 'I would speak to my husband who would speak to the appropriate person'.
People commented that the home in general and their individual rooms were always kept clean. They said that their rooms were cleaned every day.
The people we spoke to during the site visit were positive about the staff at the home. They said, 'The staff are helpful'. 'The staff are happy and friendly, they are marvellous'.
There were mixed views from people spoken to during the site visit about the sufficiency of staff within Ayresome Court. One person said, 'I don't think there are enough staff for the people who live here, I know that they are under pressure'. One person gave an example of having to wait 15 ' 20 minutes to go to the toilet and said this happened at least once a day. Another person thought the staffing levels were 'generally ok although sometimes a little short'.
People said that resident meeting do take place however, two of the three people decline to attend. The person who does attend could not recall seeing any notes of the meeting. People could not recall completing or being asked to complete any surveys in respect of their views of the service.
