All Inspections
31 December 2013
During a routine inspection
We saw consent on the day of the inspection was obtained by registered nurses (RGNs) because of the nature of the treatment being provided at the time. We found that the RGN would speak with people about their desired procedure, explain the possible risks and alternatives and ask the person to explain their understanding of the treatment.
We found there were arrangements in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies. We saw that at the location there was equipment available and staff trained for the treatment of first aid. We found staff were also prepared for foreseeable complications and could manage the welfare of people if any occurred as a result of treatment or procedures.
We found security of the premises to be robust and protected people who use the service, and others from risks associated with the carrying out of the regulated activities. However, although regular maintenance occurred at the location, we found some risks associated with the premises were not adequately addressed by the provider.
Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work. We looked at two personnel files of staff that worked at the location. We saw the files contained required information in accordance with the regulation.
We found people were made aware of the complaints system. The location had a clear system for people to make complaints and for managing them once they were received.
20 November 2012
During a routine inspection
We found that people using the service were provided with appropriate care to meet their needs. Services were provided by trained and competent staff who showed empathy and care for clients. Safeguarding procedures were in place and safeguarding concerns were documented and followed-up. The facilities were clean and infection prevention and control measures were in place. There are systems in place for monitoring the quality and safety of services provided to people. Systems for monitoring risks to people and for reviewing adverse incidents are in place. Where improvements to services were required, these were made.
In this report, the name of one of the registered managers appears who was not in post and not managing the regulatory activities at this location at the time of the inspection. Their name appears because they were still one of the registered managers on our register at the time of this inspection. We have advised the provider of what they need to do to remove the individual's name from our register.
