Our view of the service
Kingsman House Care Home is registered to provide care and support for up to 75 people. The home specialises in supporting older people some of whom are living with dementia. There were 54 people living at the home. Our assessment was prompted by concerns we had received about safety and management. However, following the assessment we were assured by the processes in place to keep people safe. This was the first inspection for the home since their registration, therefore we included all the quality statements within this assessment. The assessment took place between 14 August and 15 August 2024. Safe systems in place meant people were protected from avoidable harm. There were enough staff, who were suitably skilled to provide care. People received their medicines as prescribed and risks to their wellbeing had been identified. Safeguarding procedures were in place and opportunities for learning were in place. The home worked with external professionals to ensure they had access to healthcare as required. People were involved in their care and records were in place to ensure care was person centred. People’s rights were fully respected, and consent was sought as required. Staff were kind and caring, taking into consideration people’s individuality. Everyone was welcome at the home and inclusivity was at their core. People had access to a wide range of activities and were encouraged to spend time with loved ones. People had enough to eat and drink and had a variety of options. The home sought to work with their local community and had many established links. Governance systems were in place to ensure oversight. Kingsman House Care Home had experienced an unsettled period with staffing changes. However, staff, health professionals, people and their relatives told us there had been notable improvement in the past few months. The manager and provider told us they were passionate about providing the best level of care possible.
