Our view of the service
Stoneygate Ashlands is a residential care home for up to 37 older people, including people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, the service was supporting 27 people. Assessment activity commenced on 10 October 2024 and ended on 14 October 2024. We visited the service on 10 and 11 October 2024. We assessed six quality statements in the safe key question and four quality statements in the well-led key question. This was so we could assess and review the improvements needed identified at our previous assessment in these two key questions. For the key questions effective, caring and responsive we have used the previous assessments ratings to calculate the overall rating. The overall rating has improved from requires improvement to good. Improvements had been made following our previous assessment. We did identify some minor shortfalls in quality monitoring and the providers quality assurance processes. These shortfalls were addressed during the assessment, and the provider committed to reviewing the quality assurance process following the assessment. Managers present during the assessment were open and transparent and accepting of our findings. The culture of the service was positive. Staff deployment had improved although a minor concern was raised. People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse by staff who were recruited safely and had completed a range of training courses relevant to their role. People received kind and compassionate care. People had access to activities and facilities to meet their needs, however further consideration for people who were cared for in their bedrooms was needed. Accidents and incidents, medicines and the environment were safely managed. The service was clean, fresh and well maintained. Staff were supported in their role and their well-being promoted.
