During a routine inspection
People's representatives were involved in discussions about the care received and staff at the home took time to explain things, including options, risks and benefits.
People who lived at the home are encouraged to be independent. We saw staff speaking with people, asking them if they wanted help and assisting them if they asked.
We saw people who used the service were encouraged to visit the dentist and were taken to appointments with the help of staff from the home. In addition the home had arranged regular visits from professionals such as chiropodists and opticians. There was also regular monitoring of people's weight and we saw the staff at the home would make referrals to dieticians and GP's if required.
We saw staff at the home had positive relationships with individuals, there was a relaxed and happy atmosphere in the home and people who used the service were comfortable with the carers.
