The people living in The White House were being effectively supported by staff and we saw them responding positively to the staff with them. People we spoke with told us they were happy with how they were cared for, one said they 'Lovely'. They told us they thought their bedrooms and the home generally was pleasantly decorated and that they were kept comfortable and safe. One visitor told us she thought the service was 'Really good' and said 'They have done really well with her since she moved in'. The person living in the service agreed with the visitor's comment and said 'The girls are really nice and always answer the buzzer when I call'. Another visitor, when asked, said 'I know she is getting well looked after'. All of the relatives we spoke with had been involved in developing the care plan initially and were happy with the content of the documents. One told us that she could not remember actually looking in the care plan but knew she would be able to see it then if she wanted to.
We observed staff assisting the people in The White House with their usual daily activities, including personal care, watching television or having their meals. They responded to their needs in a professional and pleasant way, and were clear about how the individual was supported. These activities maximised people's independence while maintaining their safety and wellbeing. The atmosphere in the service was quiet and calm and the staff focused on the people they were supporting.
