Angel Mount Care Home is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to people with physical, mental health, and sensory needs and for people living with a dementia. We assessed all quality statements under the five key questions of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led. We undertook onsite visits on 22 and 23 October 2024. Accidents and incidents were managed well and the environment people lived in was safe. People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse and staff had completed a range of training courses relevant to their role. There were a range of audits and safety checks in place, however, not all quality checks identified the concerns found during the inspection and work was needed to ensure the recording of incidents was more robust. Medication records required strengthening and staff recruitment processes needed to be more robust.

People's experience of the service

Updated 8 October 2024

People and their relatives felt safe using this service and said staff treated people with kindness and compassion. One relative told us, “I have never seen staff to be anything but kind.” Relatives felt people received person-centred care and praised the features in the service including painted murals in people’s bedrooms which were personalised to suit people’s preferences. Activities were taking place which included group and 1-1 activity. One relative said, “There does seem to be a variety of activities and sometimes I find [person using the service] joining in and sometimes not. [Person using the service] is not made to do anything they don’t want to do and I have found a carer (Staff member) just sitting with her holding her hand.” Relatives told us they were involved in the care planning process. However, not all relatives were aware of meetings or feedback forms and some concerns were raised in relation to staff communication.
