Well-led
Sandwood was Well-Led. A dedicated management team were in place. Staff understood their role and responsibilities. Managers accounted for the actions, behaviours and performance of staff. Staff told us they felt very well supported by both the registered manager and deputy manager. Staff were happy in their roles which made the environment at Sandwood positive and friendly.

Workforce equality, diversity and inclusion
Staff told us they felt valued and supported in their roles. Staff spoke highly of the support the registered manager provided. Staff said, “Since [registered manager name] started as our manager, I feel safe and supported. They are supportive and I feel I can talk to them anytime.” Another staff member we spoke with said, “Staff morale is good and it’s down to the change in management, they are quick to offer support and guide us.” The registered manager spoke with passion about how the staff team worked to improve the quality and safety of care on offer. They said, “I am most proud of the dedication staff show to the people we support, they are a fantastic team.”
Process in place meant all staff were included to contribute to the running of the service which meant the environment at Sandwood was warm and welcoming. Staff were supported to progress within their chosen career. Staff had been enrolled on courses to further develop their skills. Competency based supervisions were completed to ensure staff remained confident in their roles. An equality and diversity questionnaire was completed as part of the recruitment process. This meant there was a diverse workforce which was reflective of the local community.
