During a routine inspection
People identified a respectful approach to care giving and freedom to choose their own way ' 'personal care is done very sensitively and they treat everybody on the unit as an individual' and 'I'm still able to choose my life and what I want to do'.
We were told about good standards of healthcare support ' 'they're very good in attending to my needs and particularly if I need the nurse or doctor' and about success in the Meadow View dementia care unit ' 'he is stimulated and well looked after and has improved overall since he came to live here'. People told us how they felt safe at the home and how well they had settled into life there ' 'I don't have any problems, they're all my friends here'
Our discussions with the manager and staff indicated a commitment to individual working and they told us that 'we try to make the atmosphere homely not clinical' and that 'our objectives are about promoting dignity and independence within safety'. Good levels of social care were supported by the employment of 2 activities organisers who told us that 'I try and involve everybody no matter what level of care they need' and 'Involving people with the world outside the front door is important and two groups go on outings every week'.
We were told about high levels of staff training, and staff also told us that they felt well supported to do their jobs properly and that 'the management of the home is much improved, she's very hands-on and visible around the home. We can always go to the manager and her deputy and things will be sorted out. This is a well organised home'.
Throughout our visit to the home, people were very positive about the standards of care provided and the qualities of the staff employed there.
