Date of Assessment: 11 November to 14 November 2024. The service is a care at home service providing support to children and younger adults with a learning disability and autistic people, as well as those living with physical disabilities or sensory needs. At the time of our inspection 28 people were being supported with personal care. An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability . We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. People were supported to express their views and opinions in various ways. People had different ways of communicating and staff understood how best to share information for people to make their own choices and decisions. The service had facilitated people to participate in numerous activities and interests which enhanced their quality of life. The provider, registered manager and staff team were passionate about people's well-being and went above and beyond to help people achieve their goals and aspirations by building their confidence and breaking down barriers to increase independence. Relatives and professionals described how people received excellent personalised care and support that was tailored to people’s needs and preferences. The registered manager and provider were visible and exceptionally supportive to both people and staff. They were instrumental in continually developing the service to meet and maximise people's outcomes. The culture of the service was extremely friendly, open and transparent where people's and staff voices were listened to in order to continually improve the quality of care. Highly effective auditing systems were in place

The service was exceptionally caring and had an emphasis on caring for people as individuals. Every relative and professional we spoke with told us how extremely caring and supportive the staff were and how they often went the extra mile to ensure people’s needs were met. A relative told us, “Usually its awkward having people in your own home. I can say anything and it's all dealt with without feeling awkward. I feel I can speak about anything. The staff are always happy, it's obvious to me that staff are valued and well supported, because it shows in everything they do. They have a great balance between being professional and excellent carers. A lot of people could learn a lot from Alpha Care SW Community Services . They are amazing and a breath of fresh air”. Relatives and professionals told us how people’s dignity and human rights were fully promoted and staff always acted in people’s best interests. Relatives told us about the positive impact the service had had on their lives. For example, maintaining or increasing their independence and health and supporting social interests and activities. Without exception relatives told us they felt listened to and consulted when planning and agreeing how care and support should be provided. Family members, health and social care professionals all described situations where the service had gone above and beyond in their expectations. One professional told us, “They support my younger adults. The feedback I receive from people's families is really really positive. They are compassionate, caring and highly effective. The Registered Manager is brilliant. They give me all the information I need. Our working relationship with Alpha Care SW Community Services is really efficient, because they respond quickly, everything is done in a timely manner. I have worked in Adult Social Care for years and believe me, they are excellent”. The majority of people using the service did not use words to communicate.
