Governance, management and sustainability
The provider took steps to ensure staff were heard and had held regular engagements events to enable staff to share concerns openly without blame. Newsletters produced by the provider also reinforced ‘speaking up’ processes. All staff we spoke with as part of this assessment told us they enjoyed working for the organisation and several described the service as one of the ‘best places’ they had worked.
We reviewed the provider's policies and processes in relation to complaints, investigations and freedom to speak up. The provider had clear processes to investigate complaints and concerns and we saw evidence of thorough investigations with clear outcomes and findings. We saw the provider thoroughly investigated any concerns and ensured their findings were shared with appropriate stakeholders. We reviewed five staff risk assessments and saw four were completed appropriately. However, in one file we saw staff supervision arrangements were not adhered to in line with the risk assessment requirements. We brought this to the immediate attention of the provider who took steps to strengthen risk management processes. The provider had a risk register in place, which outlined the current risks for the service. However, the provider acknowledged a recent risk of a loss of several staff, due to contractual changes had not been added to the risk register.
