Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site, announced assessment on 26 September 2024. We found the practice had met regulations regulations. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. We found minor shortfalls in appropriately assessing and mitigating risks in relation to environmental cleaning equipment storage arrangements, staff recruitment records, medical emergency equipment and prescription stock controls. All of these were acted on immediately. The practice is in Bristol and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children. There was step free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available outside. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 1 dental nurse, 1 dental therapist, 2 receptionists and the 3 practice owners.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our onsite assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 2 patients. On the day of our assessment, we obtained the views of a further 14 patients. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, I’m always happy when leaving the practice. Would never change. Clinicians are very caring and good at explaining treatment. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed. All but one patient told us they were given information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.
