Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 24 April 2024. This was a responsive assessment due to concerns received about the safety of people living at the service. However, we identified no concerns during our assessment. Jubilee House had achieved Care Home of the Year at the Surrey Care Awards. Staff of all levels were extremely proud of the work they do, and genuinely aimed to have a positive impact on the lives of the people they cared for. The atmosphere of the service was welcoming and accommodating. Interactions between staff and people were warm, friendly and respectful. Staff were committed to achieving better outcomes for people. This included working collaboratively with external stakeholders, such as the GP, speech and language therapists, and the local church and school. Robust quality governance systems were in place which identified where improvements could be made. These were actioned in a timely manner by the staffing team. The provider ensured staff and leaders contribution to people’s care was recognised, with one nurse at the service being awarded Nurse of the Year out of 150 other homes. The head chef had also won a divisional award for their knowledge of nutritional support for people living with dementia and their exceptionally personalised approach.
People's experience of this service
People received exceptionally personalised care from staff who took the time to know them and their interests. People’s families were welcomed into the service and were encouraged and enabled to remain an important and integral part of their loved one’s life. This included the service holding birthday parties for people and inviting their loved ones to celebrate with them. One relative told us, "I have been really impressed. They have tailored his diet to him. The layout is better for his walking. They have also been great at getting him out. He enjoys the garden, he enjoys the music. He previously he had a lot of falls, but here he has not had a single one.” Another relative said, “The staff are lovely - always smiling." A further relative told us, “There is really good care, really individual - they really get to know their residents." People were supported to continue engaging in the local community and with interests that were personal to them.
