During a routine inspection
We spoke with two district nurses who knew the home well. Both told us they had no concerns about the quality of care. One stated, 'There have been huge improvements in the last year and catheter care is much better. Cheri (the manager) seems to have a better handle on things now.' A GP told us, 'Staff are very caring and all my patients seem to love it there'
Staff we spoke with told us they enjoyed their job and felt well supported by the management team. They stated they received good training and opportunities for professional development. One told us, 'This is the best home I've worked in; residents get the chance to go on outings all the time, not just once a year. There's lots of training and I get to learn new things all the time. Staff meetings are regular and we get told of things we need to improve'.
Overall we found that people received a good quality of care; that systems to protect people were robust and that appropriate staff were recruited safely. However some aspects of the environment that people lived in were not safe or well maintained.
