During an inspection in response to concerns

People we spoke with told us they, or a family member had visited before they went to live at Hatley Court. One person told us that although they tell staff to " Do what you want " the staff always reply "No, we do what you want". The person also said that "They (staff) always like to know your opinion". One person told us that staff will "always come to help if you can't do something". This related to being able to wash and dress independently whenever possible. People also told us they did not want to manage their own medication and were more than happy for staff to administer their medication.

People told us they could get up and go to bed when they wanted to.

People we spoke with told us the food was generally very good and was all made in the home. There was always a choice available and that the cook would provide an alternative if you didn't like what was on the menu. One person said "Some days the food is better than others". Another person said they loved the food.

People also said that they felt safe in the home. They knew who they would talk to if they were unhappy with their care and knew the name of carers and the manager. Although there are meetings held in the home for residents people told us that they often do not attend preferring to raise things directly with staff if they have any issues.
