During a routine inspection
We met all three people who lived at the home during the visit. People told us they liked living at The Orchards and they looked happy and relaxed in the presence of staff. Due to the level of the individual's disability we were able to obtain limited feedback. We spent time observing how staff interacted and supported people, we saw staff treating people in a sensitive, respectful and professional manner.
We looked around the building which was clean, comfortably furnished and free from unpleasant odours. The individuals were happy to show us their rooms. Their bedrooms were personalised with photographs, books, TV's and pictures. One individual recently had his room decorated and a new carpet and had purchased their own bedroom furniture.
On display in the kitchen dining area was the individual's programme of activities for the week, and the names and shifts that staff were working that day. This enabled the individuals to know what they were doing that day and who was on duty.
