During an assessment under our new approach
This service is a residential care home providing support to older people, most of whom were living with dementia.
People received safe care appropriate to their needs from staff who knew them well. The registered manager was working to improve the regular review of care records. Medicines were managed safely and people received their medicines as prescribed. Infection prevention and control measures were in place. People received person-centred care which met their assessed needs. People received kind, compassionate care from suitably trained staff. The service was responsive to people’s changing needs. The registered manager had spent the preceding 12 months setting up the service, recruiting staff and admitting people to live at the home. The service used a mixture of paper-based and electronic records. This meant some information was not always consistent. However, staff confirmed they had enough information to support people safely and knew people very well. The service planned to prioritise the full transition from paper-based records to electronic records. A staff member told us, “It’s full of smiles.”
