Cinnamon Lodge

During an assessment under our new approach

Date of assessment 21 October 2024 to 01 November 2024. Cinnamon Lodge is a care home. This is a specialist service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability. There were 5 people living at the service at the time of our assessment. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.’ We identified some concerns in relation to medicines and the environment, the provider acted promptly and addressed our concerns at the time of the assessment. The service effectively implemented a positive behaviour support (PBS) approach, identifying trends to enhance learning outcomes and support people to manage risk. Staff were recruited safely and received appropriate training for their roles. Assessments were carried out before individuals moved in, support plans were regularly updated with input from individuals, relatives, and professionals. Staff provided compassionate care by understanding individuals' personal histories, tailoring support to enhance daily living skills. The service promoted healthy living. A commitment to person-centred care was evident, with respect for individuals' rights regarding consent. Assistive technology ensured privacy and safety. The service prioritised individuals' choices and provided personalised information to aid decision-making. Regular feedback was sought and acted upon, contributing to a shared vision and culture led by approachable management. People lived their lives how they chose to. People had freedom in how they live their lives. They chose their daily activities and came and went as they wished.
