We carried out an unannounced inspection at Caring Direct on 01 February 2012. On 02 February we had conversations with three people who were receiving a service from Caring Direct and two relatives of people receiving a service. A relative also contacted us prior to our inspection. People and their relatives told us that staff were respectful and provided a good standard of care. One relative said 'The carers are all good and a few are excellent.'

One person and one relative considered that there had previously been poor continuity of care from the agency with too many changes of care staff. This was also highlighted at a review for another person, which stated 'X is very happy with the provision of care but would like to see fewer faces.' This person's relative confirmed that they now had very good continuity of care and this was confirmed by other people and relatives during this inspection. One person told us 'I can't think of anything they could do better.' A relative said 'I can't recommend them highly enough. They were a lifesaver when X was ill.'
