Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 16 July 2024. We found the practice had not met all regulations. The practice had systems to manage risks. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. Infection control procedures followed published guidance. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance. Patients were treated with dignity and respect. At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required. There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Recruitment checks had not been carried out, in accordance with relevant legislation to help them employ suitable staff, including agency and locum staff. The practice is in Manchester City Centre and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children. At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 7 dentists, 3 qualified dental nurses, 2 trainee dental nurses, and 1 practice manager. The practice had 4 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses and the practice manager. The provider was not complying with 1 regulation. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the quality statement section of the report. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our visit, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. Their responses and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Two comments were received and 100% of views expressed by patients were positive. Comments included: “They have always provided excellent care and a very professional service for all my dental need” and “Just brilliant from the moment I walked in. The whole practice is superb and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone”. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken. Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. While the people we spoke to expressed that they were generally happy with their care, our assessment found care met expected standards.
