During an inspection looking at part of the service
The scheme consists of a registered manager, two-care coordinators and one administration officer. Currently the scheme offers a service to forty-five people, either on long term, short term , day care or respite basis, and supports thirty adult placement carers. We spoke to seven adult placement carers, three people who receive support from the adult placement scheme and one relative.
People we spoke to told us that like living/ staying with their adult placement carers. People told us that they are able to choose what they do and the support they need. People told us that they have a full and active life with the support of their Walsall Shared Lives carers. One person told us, "I am now more confident and am always out now".
We were told about monitoring arrangements around people's placements and that managers from Walsall Shared Lives visit them at least every three months. Carers we spoke to all told us, "If I need any support I just pick up the phone and they either give me advice over the phone or come out to see me". One carer said, "I can't fault Walsall Shared Lives they are supportive".
