During a routine inspection
People had care plans in place which reflected their health and care needs and how these should be met. People are encouraged to eat and drink enough but did not always have full support with their choices.
Staff know how to protect people from the risk of abuse. However the provider was not aware of their responsibilities in protecting people where incidents involving staff are under investigation.
People live in a clean home but are not always protected from the risk of infection. The provider has taken steps to improve the living environment and people had access to equipment they needed to meet their needs.
Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work. However these checks were not consistently applied so people could be exposed to unsuitable staff. At times people did not have the support of staff when they needed it. One staff told us, 'It can be difficult to do more than provide care".
