Our view of the service

We have not previously rated this service. This assessment did not cover all parts of our Single Assessment Framework; therefore, we have only updated scores and ratings for those areas which we have assessed. We will carry out future assessments to cover other parts of the Framework and will update our website with our findings. This assessment started on 22 February 2024 and ended on 22 March 2024. During this assessment 3 people were being supported with personal care. This responsive assessment was undertaken due to concerns shared with the CQC. People had positive opinions of the person-centred care provided by knowledgeable staff. Staff respected people’s personal and cultural wishes. People felt they received safe care including medicines support. People felt involved in their care decisions. Staff respected people’s choices and sought consent from people before supporting them. Staff were aware of safeguarding processes and knew how to report concerns. Staff understood the importance of responding to people’s immediate needs if unwell or in an emergency. People had good continuity of care where they moved between services. However, the service's record keeping did not always meet the standard required. Whilst staff knew the people they supported well, people’s known risks were not always formally risk assessed. People’s involvement in their care decisions and any health and social care professionals’ input were not always formally recorded. New staff had a series of checks completed on them to help make sure they were safe to support people. However, these records did not always meet the expected standards. The quality monitoring of the service had not identified all the improvements required or made improvements quickly enough. There are 3 breaches in relation to safe care and treatment, good governance and fit and proper person employed. The provider and registered manager were responsive to the feedback given.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with 2 people and a relative. People told us they felt safe and felt confident to raise concerns. People were supported with person-centred care by a consistent staff team that knew them well. People and or their relative participated in the setting up, and reviews of their care, however this was not always formally recorded. People, to promote and maintain their well-being, were supported by staff to access external health professionals. However, this was not always formally documented. People who were supported by staff with their medicines, had no concerns. People told us staffs' timekeeping was good and they were informed if staff were running late. They also confirmed that they had experienced no missed care call visits. People felt staff had the right skills and knowledge to support them. People did not have concerns around the management and running of the service.
