During a routine inspection
We found that there was a robust care plan system in place consisting of an initial assessment, a care plan and a number of risk assessments. The initial assessment was agreed with the person or their family and this formed the basis of the care plan.
All 10 staff received safeguarding training as part of the moving and handling module and others who were completing recognised courses such as National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) in Care also covered this subject
Care staff employed by the service had been subject to a robust recruitment process to check their there background and employment history before they commenced work.
All three staff we spoke with said they were happy in their work and felt supported by the management team. They were always able to contact someone in the event of an emergency and seek advice or get help.
During our visit we saw questionnaires that had been sent to people using the service in May 2012. All of the responses were positive, scoring in the good or excellent range. One person had written "I find the service has been excellent and very accommodating to our needs..."
