Our view of the service
Holm Lodge is a residential care home providing accommodation, support and personal care to up to 26 people. There were 24 people living at the home at the time of our on-site assessment on 24 September 2024. Our assessment was focussed looking at our safe and well-led key questions. At the last inspection the service was in breach of regulation 17, good governance. Enough improvements had been made and the service was no longer in breach. There had been some changes to senior staff at the service with one of the 2 registered managers and 2 other senior staff leaving 3 months before our visit. The remaining registered manager had managed these changes well and had promoted experienced staff in-house to cover any shortfalls. Management oversight of the service had been maintained as had staffing levels. We saw improvements from our last visit to the service with auditing process, analysis of accidents and incidents and the collection of feedback from people and staff. During our assessment we spoke with 5 people, 5 relatives, 3 professionals and 9 staff. Staff included the registered manager, deputy manager, domestic and kitchen staff and care staff. We looked at 5 care plans and documents relating to auditing, accidents and incidents and quality assurance. We looked at 4 staff files.
People's experience of this service
People told us they felt safe living at the service and that there were enough trained staff to support them. People’s rooms contained personal items and photographs and people told us they felt ‘at home.’ People said that the food was always nice and that all staff were attentive to their needs. They knew the registered manager and felt confident to raise issues if needed. People who needed help with decision making were supported by their relatives and decisions recorded appropriately.
