During a routine inspection
We spoke with 20 people about the healthcare services they received. They were all critical and this was predominantly about access to the service and delayed or cancelled appointments.
We saw that people were treated with respect. They were given information and advice about their health problems and any treatment they received.
Serco Limited contracted with other healthcare providers for services such as optometry, podiatry, physiotherapy and dentistry. The primary healthcare staff also made referrals to specialist teams such as mental health and the integrated substance misuse team. This ensured that people received specialist health care treatment when that was required.
Healthcare staff received regular appraisals about their performance and had opportunities to develop and enhance their learning and skills.
There were arrangements in place to ensure the Serco Limited's procedures were followed and the quality of the service people received was maintained and/or improved.
